The Pacific Ocean at Punta el Custodio has many faces. To the south of the Point, it is majestically pacific as its waves gently lap the pristine beach that stretches to the horizon, a beach that is the egg-laying habitat of rare sea turtles. Immediately to the north, the sea batters a forbidding rocky coast, casting spray high into the air with each breaking wave. And miraculously, in a narrow corridor between these two faces, is yet a third face: world-class surfing made possible by the tidal estuary's sand bar.

Dawn and dusk at Punta el Custodio are beautiful — and brief. Almost every evening people gather at the tip of the Point with their margaritas to watch the sun set.

Earlybirds can catch the sunrise over the mountains east of the estuary.

As darkness falls, the lights of the shrimp boats out at sea begin to twinkle.

Whales and dolphins cavort right off the Point.  Whale watching boat trips are available through the Manager, Ismael Franco

Surfing at Punta el Custodio is some of the best on the entire Nayarit Riviera... Plus, there are no crowds to deal with.
